Nourished Postpartum with Birdsong Brooklyn: Who Am I Now?

Four years postpartum.

Who I am now is the person who thinks about her kid before she thinks about much else. My brain rewired on the spot with the two pink lines and it gets rewired every day. I’m continuously eager to dig and heal my own wounds for her benefit and four years later, I think I’m getting some real work done over here.

Who I am now is someone who is more willing to be on the fence than ever, seeks harder for understanding. Who I am now is someone who increasingly says ‘I don’t know’. I see so clearly all of my gifts and all of my not so super great gifts. I speak easier from the depths of my heart. I’m more gentle and patient on most days but I’ll always be me and for that I’ll say sorry more often.

I’m more me because of postpartum. Going through all that blurry and sleepless and non-communicative baby time was on its own enough to break ya girl, but here I am about to fulfill a dream that was catapulted by being postpartum.

And I respond to myself, “Hmmm, interesting.”
