Nourished Space

I’ve found myself telling others lately, when they’ve asked about the purpose of the Nourished brick & mortar, the same three things: I’ll cook the food there, have curated dinners in the evenings, and be a space where people can come have their joy reservoirs filled. That last thing, filling the joy reservoirs, is going to accomplished in part by being a colorful collection of beautiful furniture, tons of plants, corners or tiny tables you can feel good sitting at.

Beside each table will be a comfortable chair or pillow with great fabric. Take a load off, let it be pretty. Most of the stuff is going to be repurposed, collected from Estate Sales and Thrift Stores. I’m just like you, with multiple Pinterest boards dedicated to color and gorgeous interior design, dishes I want to cook, art I like. I’m going to serve you fresh tea, maybe a snack, something warm or ice cold. Whatever feels good fo you. You can come in alone or with friends. Drop in to say hello or stay a while. The staff is going to have joy and kindness at the forefront.

In the evenings with those beautiful dinners, I’d want to have foraged—from the park, thrift stores, mine or someone else’s yard— the centerpieces and I want you to feel special because of them. No detail left out. I want the food to feel like medicine, the conversation around the long table to be full of laughter and a few tears so you can release those things. It’s going to feel like a break. Like just what you needed.

The food will make the whole place smell good. Like home. There’ll be bowls of soup and sautéed greens. Chocolate chip cookies and coconut banana smoothies. Hot ginger and lemon tea going all the time. Sun-dried tomato sandwiches and plantain crisps. Crispy chicken ALL the time.

What you need to know about the Nourished space the most: You could bet your bottom dollar that lots of loving prayer goes into it. It’ll be mulled over, overthought on and executed with as many people as possible in mind. You can assure that this will be a place of joy and comfort. Please, come see us in 2020 and let us try to take care of ya.
